Romanticizing Potipot

for-ppo1

I had one short-lived romance with the virginal Potipot Island. Nestled about 1 km. in distance from the mainland shore of Uacon,Candelaria in Zambales, Potipot is fast becoming a familiar zone to those seeking unconventional way of “beach-ing”.

With two friends in tow, we took the last trip of Victory Liner (in Kalookan) bound to Iba. Fare is P518 for an almost six hour trip with two stop-overs. We reached Dawal Resort half past 5AM. Other nearby resorts surrounded the area thus accomodation rates are remarkably competitive.

Other popular resorts — The Harvest, Sun Bloom, Isla Vista and Elizabeth. Accommodation damage ranges from 800-1,500. We stayed at The Harvest.

The resort itself provided the banca that costs P400.  A bit pricey for a five-minute ride taking you to Potipot and vise versa. There is no resort in the island hence camping is tolerated.

Too inviting is its calm blue water welcome by the fine white sand as it unites the shore. Sun’s scorching heat at mid-day is pacified by the soothing wind reaching the very core of the island. Taking a plunge is heavenly.

We brought with us our ordered lunch from the floating restaurant in Candelaria. The idea was great for it gave us ample time to frolick and adventure the place.

We swam the whole day. We savored the carefree feeling. We fell in love with the place as it titillates and caresses all our tired souls and nursed some wounded spirits in us.

The banca fetched us just as the sunset started to stole the limelight from an almost perfect day. We slept the whole trip back to Manila.
